Ascend Lighted Instant Cabin Tent Setup & Use Guide

Whether you’re setting up at the campground for the first time or looking for best practices to improve comfort and durability, this guide walks through each step clearly and efficiently.

Before You Set Up

Before heading to camp, Ascend recommends assembling your tent at home once to become familiar with the process. This ensures faster setup, proper component use, and better performance in real-world conditions.

What you’ll need:

  • Tent body with integrated frame
  • Carry bag contents (stakes, rainfly, guy lines)
  • Batteries for the LED light hub (if not pre-installed)

Choose a flat, debris-free campsite and orient the tent for proper airflow and drainage.

Step-by-Step Tent Setup

Ascend Lighted Instant Cabin Tents are available in two configurations—6-person and 10-person. While the overall setup process is similar, there are important differences in frame structure, rainfly attachment, and interior features. Follow the instructions below for your specific model.

1. Assemble the Tent Frame (6-Person)

Remove all contents from the carry bag and lay the tent flat on the ground.

  1. Unfold all four leg poles outward to spread the tent body flat
  2. Pull the roof poles outward so the joints can move into position
  3. Extend each leg pole until the locking buttons click into place

Once extended, the tent becomes freestanding and can be repositioned before staking.

2. Attach the Rainfly (6-Person)

Lay the rainfly over the tent with logos facing upward.

  1. Locate the small “FRONT” label sewn on the underside of the rainfly
  2. Align the label above the door
  3. Clip the four rainfly straps to the ends of each leg pole
  4. Insert the fiberglass pole into the sleeve above the door
  5. Secure hook-and-loop straps under the rainfly around each pole

3. Stake and Secure the Tent (6-Person)

  1. Insert stakes through the webbing loops at the base of each leg pole
  2. Drive stakes at a 45-degree angle away from the tent
  3. Stake out rainfly guy lines and adjust tension with plastic sliders
  4. Secure the adjustable ground vent at the back of the tent

1. Assemble the Tent Frame (10-Person)

The 10-person model uses a larger integrated frame with six leg poles for added stability and interior space.

  1. Remove all contents from the carry bag and unfold the tent flat
  2. Unfold all six leg poles outward from the center hub
  3. Pull both roof poles and leg poles outward to allow joints to unfold
  4. Extend each leg pole until the locking buttons click

Once fully extended, the tent stands on its own and can be repositioned prior to staking.

2. Attach the Rainfly (10-Person)

Lay the rainfly across the tent, ensuring logos face upward.

  1. Find the “FRONT” label sewn on the underside of the rainfly and align it over the door
  2. Snap the six rainfly straps onto the ends of each leg pole
  3. Insert the fiberglass pole into the sleeve located above the door
  4. Secure the hook-and-loop straps on the underside of the rainfly to each pole

3. Stake and Secure the Tent (10-Person)

  1. Insert stakes through the webbing loops at the base of all six leg poles
  2. Drive stakes into the ground at a 45-degree angle, angled away from the tent

Using the Built-In LED Lighting System

Both the 6-person and 10-person Ascend Lighted Instant Cabin Tents include a centrally located LED light hub designed to evenly illuminate the interior.

Installing Batteries and Power Options

Each Ascend Lighted Instant Cabin Tent includes a centrally located LED light hub designed to illuminate the entire interior.

Installing Batteries

  • Open the battery pouch located inside the tent
  • Insert batteries according to the polarity diagram
  • Secure the battery pack inside the pouch

The LED hub offers three brightness settings, allowing campers to adjust light levels for organization, relaxation, or nighttime movement.

Note: A portable power source with a USB-A port may also be used (not included).

Ventilation, Weather Use, and Condensation Control

Ascend Lighted Instant Cabin Tents are designed for 3-season use and balance protection with airflow.

Key features include:

  • Mesh walls and ceiling panels
  • Multiple windows
  • Adjustable ground vent
  • Removable rainfly

Under certain conditions—cool nights, high humidity, or limited airflow—condensation may form inside the tent. This is normal and not a sign of leakage. Ventilation and moisture management help minimize buildup.

Packing, Storage, and Care Tips

To extend the life of your tent:

  • Always allow the tent to dry completely before storage
  • Brush off dirt and debris before packing
  • Remove stakes by pulling on the stake itself, not the tent fabric
  • Do not store the tent with poles telescoped together
  • Fold the tent to match the original carry bag length

For additional weather protection, seam sealer can be applied prior to camping.

Avoid leaving the tent set up for extended periods, as prolonged UV exposure may cause fabric discoloration or material degradation.
