Fly Fishing

All around me big, deep-bellied browns and rainbows were rising frantically, sipping in one of the tiniest mayflies I had ever seen. The insects were so abundant sometimes the trout would grab two or three in a single gulp.

I first read about brook trout in Outdoor Life magazine when I was 8 years old.

If you only have limited time to fish, such as weekends, then fishing in bad weather and rain is sometimes unavoidable. Personally I like fly fishing in the rain and have had several great days on the water, but understanding how the precipitation is going to effect the fish and flies makes all the difference in the world.

Last week I took the day off and spent some time at my favorite river. Previous experience told me the brook trout would be biting and, it being mid-week, I'd have the place to myself.
